Following the removal of a doctor on a United Airlines flight from Chicago to Louisville, United released a statement from CEO Oscar Munoz:
“Our board of directors met for a series of exhaustive meetings in Cabo San Lucas to address the critical issue of our passengers wearing leggings following the incident that was brought directly to our attention last month by over eight Twitter comments. Our board worked hand-in-foot with our colleagues at the FAA and over the course of five days, we were able to change the language in our Contract of Carriage from:
‘United shall have the right to refuse passengers who are not properly clothed.’
to
‘United requires that all passengers wear United branded leggings.’
For the convenience of our passengers, United moved with a sense of urgency to establish United branded legging stores at all of the airports that we serve. If you don’t own a pair of United branded leggings, simply stop by one of our new airport stores, Legs United, and purchase as many as you like for $125 each.
Thank you for flying our friendly skies.”
